Emily Wiley joined the Classics Department at Rutgers University in the Fall of 2022. Prior to joining, she attained her BPhil in Classics and Anthropology at the University of Pittsburgh, defending an undergraduate thesis on non-binary representation in Ptolemaic and Roman Egyptian portraiture, while interning with Egyptian department at the Carnegie Museum of Natural History. She now currently works as a research assistant for the Idleb Museum Reconstruction project at the Penn Museum with Syrians for Heritage (SIMAT).She has presented at CAMWS-SS and CAAS, and is one of the organizers for a workshop at the AIA for January 2025. In the summer of 2023, she attended an archaeological field school in Italy, the Gabii Project. With an interest in Classical literature and Mediterranean archaeology, she pursues academic interests related to ancient painting and Classical ekphrasis.
