The cultural renaissance under Augustus (44 BC-AD 14), with emphasis on the reading, in Latin, of selections from the writings of Virgil, Horace, Livy, Ovid, and the elegiac poets. Prerequisite: 01:580:203 or 204 or permission of instructor. May be jointly taught (in part) with 01:190:310. Students wishing to earn language credit in Latin should enroll in 01:580:310.
